Projects

Group documents into a project, share it as a data room with one link, and see who came and what they read.

What a project is

A project groups documents. Use one per deal, per client or per fundraise. A document can belong to several projects at once, and taking it out of a project never deletes it.

Free workspaces can have 2 projects; Pro is unlimited. On Free, the New project window tells you when you are at the limit and offers Manage projects or an upgrade. An agent that tries to create a third project is told "Free workspaces can have 2 projects. Delete one or upgrade to Pro." A deleted project stops counting straight away. See Credits and plans or Pricing.

Creating and organising

  • Click New project (the + next to Projects in the left sidebar), or open a document's … menu, choose Projects (Add to project in the sidebar) and then New project.
  • Give it a name and, optionally, a description. The description is shown on the project's public page.
  • To add a document that already exists, open its … menu, choose Projects (Add to project in the sidebar) and click the project. A check mark shows the projects the document is in; click a checked project again to take the document out.
  • On the project page, Upload here starts a new upload that lands in this project.
  • On the project page, a document's … menu has Remove from this project.
  • The project page has two tabs: Docs and Archive. A document you archive moves to Archive and is no longer shown to recipients.
  • The gear icon opens Project settings, where you rename the project, edit its description and turn on Add files to this project automatically. With that on, AI can place new uploads into the project based on its description.

Deleting a project

Hover over the project in the sidebar, click … and choose Delete project. You can't undo this.

Deleting a project keeps its documents, their own share links and their analytics. The project, its public page and every project link go: anyone who opens a project link afterwards sees "This link isn't available". Each document's own activity records that it was removed from the project (and, for a document that was kept inside the project only, that it is listed in the workspace again). 30 days later the project, its links and the visits recorded through them are permanently purged.

The project page for recipients

Every project has a public page with your workspace name at the top, the project's name and description, and a card for each document. Recipients open documents from that list in the same viewer as a document link, and the whole visit stays on the project link they arrived through.

The list is read fresh on every visit. A document you remove from the project, archive or delete disappears from it on the next load, and so does a document whose sharing has been turned off. See Share links.

The Project sharing switch on the project page turns every project link on or off at once. When it is off, visitors see "This link isn't available". Open public share page shows you what recipients see through the default link.

Instead of sending one link per document, send the project. Every project has a default link, and you can give it as many more as you need, one per audience, on every plan.

Manage links from Links in the project header, and create one with New link. Each project link has:

  • A Label (for example the firm's name) and an optional Audience note, which are for you and your team. The default link's label can't be changed.
  • Allow download, which governs every document opened through that link.
  • An optional password and an optional Expires date. The link stops working at the end of that day. Password rules are the same as for document links; see Share links.
  • Link enabled: turn it off to take the whole project away from one recipient without touching the documents, their own links or anyone else's project link. That recipient sees "This link isn't available".

Only workspace owners and admins can create or change project links.

Everything a recipient opens behind a project link is attributed to that link, so you get one answer to "who came and what did they read".

Project analytics

  • The project page shows the same quick stats card as a document. Metrics in the project header opens the full view.
  • On the Links page, each project link has its own viewers, downloads and last-viewed time.
  • Arriving at the project page is recorded even when the visitor opens nothing, so you know they came.
  • In the activity feed, a document opened inside a project reads "in <project>" rather than "via <link>".
  • Recipients can Introduce yourself from the project page header. If they do, their arrival and everything they open are labelled with the name they gave. See Contacts for where those people are listed.
  • One visit through a project link that opens several documents gets a single visit brief listing the documents opened. See Notifications and visit briefs for when a visit earns a brief.
  • On Pro, a project can post to its own Slack channel with Route a project…. See Slack.

Viewer identities follow the same rule as document analytics: shown on every plan. See Analytics.

Projects and your agent

An agent connected over MCP can create, rename and describe projects, turn a project's public page on or off, add and remove documents, read a project's documents, and create, change and delete project links. Deleting a project or a project link asks you to confirm first. Taking a document out of a project does not, because the document is not deleted. See Connect your agent, or start at /agents.
