How Claude connects
Claude adds LinkDrop as a custom connector, by URL, from Settings › Connectors in claude.ai or the Claude desktop app. A connector added on claude.ai is also available in the Claude desktop and mobile apps, so you add it once. There is nothing to install and no command to run.
Claude signs in to LinkDrop: you pick the workspace on LinkDrop's consent screen and click Allow, and no key changes hands. What Claude does shows as Claude in your activity feed and on the Agents page. LinkDrop is also listed in Claude's connectors directory as a community connector.
Before you start
- A LinkDrop account. Connecting an agent works on every plan, Free included.
- A Claude account that can add custom connectors under Settings › Connectors.
- Optional: Google Drive connected on LinkDrop's Integrations page, so Claude can share files from your Drive.
Open Connectors
In claude.ai or the Claude desktop app, open Settings, then Connectors, then Add custom connector.
Enter the name and the URL
Enter a name for the connection and the URL below, then click Add.
nameLinkDropurlhttps://mcp.lnkdrp.com/mcpLinkDropis just the name Claude lists this connection under. Change it to whatever you like, and use the same name in every step that mentions it.Connect and sign in
Click Connect next to LinkDrop if Claude does not open it for you. LinkDrop opens in your browser: sign in if you are not already, pick the workspace Claude should work in, and click Allow.
Verify
Ask your agent: “Which LinkDrop workspace are you connected to?”
Back on Agents, the agent is listed as Signed in, and the status turns to Connected on its first call. Revoke it there at any time.
Disconnect or reconnect
To disconnect, revoke the agent on the Agents page (it stops at once) and remove LinkDrop under Claude › Settings › Connectors. To connect again, add the connector and click Connect.
More than one workspace
A connection belongs to one workspace, and your client keeps one server per name. To connect another workspace, add LinkDrop again under a different name, any name you will recognize, such as LinkDrop Acme (LinkDrop-Acme in a command), and pick that workspace when you sign in, or use a key created there. Existing connections keep working, and your agent sees them all; lnkdrp_whoami on each says which workspace it acts on.
LinkDrop Acmehttps://mcp.lnkdrp.com/mcpPick that workspace when you sign in. Any name works, as long as each workspace has its own.
Try asking Claude
- “Share the Q3 board deck from my Google Drive with Priya.”
- “Has anyone opened the pricing sheet this week?”
- “Catch me up on what happened across my LinkDrop links this week.”
- “Make a second link to the board deck for Acme Capital, with downloads off.”
- “Put the board deck and the financial model in a project and give me one link for the investors.”
- “Archive the old pitch deck but keep its analytics.”
Plain requests: your agent picks the LinkDrop tools for each. Checked against LinkDrop's tool list on 2026-10-13. The documents and people in them are examples.

Claude could not draw LinkDrop's confirmation card for a delete or archive. Nothing was changed. Tell Claude in the chat that you confirm, and it goes ahead after showing you what will be affected.
That credential has been revoked. Sign in again from your client, or create a new key at https://www.lnkdrp.com/agents and update this client's Authorization header.

Troubleshooting Claude
- Claude lists LinkDrop but its tools do not run.
- The connector was added but not connected. Click Connect next to LinkDrop under Settings › Connectors, sign in, pick the workspace and click Allow.
- Claude is connected to the wrong LinkDrop workspace.
- A connector belongs to the workspace you picked when you signed in. Add LinkDrop again as a second custom connector under another name, such as LinkDrop Acme, and pick the other workspace when you sign in.
Claude questions
- Do I add LinkDrop again in the Claude desktop app?
- No. A connector added on claude.ai is also available in the Claude desktop and mobile apps.
- Does Claude ask before it deletes something in LinkDrop?
- Yes. LinkDrop asks before deleting a share link, a document, a project or a project link, and shows what would be affected. If Claude cannot show that prompt, it must show you the same details and get your yes in the chat.
Any client: common problems
- My client never opened the sign-in page.
- Look for Authenticate, Login or /mcp auth next to LinkDrop in your client. No such option? Use an API key instead.
- My client says LinkDrop already exists.
- Changing the key? Remove the old entry, then add it again. Another workspace? Add it under a different name, such as LinkDrop-Acme.
- I get 401 unauthorized.
- The key was revoked or pasted with a stray space. Create a new one; revoking the old one is safe.
- The agent sees the wrong workspace.
- Each connection is tied to one workspace. Add LinkDrop again under a name of its own, such as LinkDrop-Acme, for that workspace.
- How does LinkDrop know which client connected?
- Your agent's app tells LinkDrop its name when it connects.
- Can I have more than one key?
- Yes, up to 10. One per agent lets you revoke one without touching the rest.
Still stuck? Connect your agent walks through it in full, and How LinkDrop Works covers the rest.
